Grade of plywood

plywood is produced in a variety of grades in china, divided these grades can help us know the plywood quality and its uses.

Common types of plywood grade:

marine grade plywood

Marine grade plywood has several advantages. The grading system is a bit different and if you want to get the very best, look for the AA grade. It is stronger, denser and more resistant to water damage because of the waterproof glue that it is constructed with. This type of wood panel is more highly resistant to separation and it lasts longer in warm and moist climates. It’s also easier to cut and sand with cleaner edges.

MR grade plywood

MR stands for 'Moisture Resistant' plywood. Its also known as commercial plywood and is used for making home and office furniture. medium density fiberboard is an engineered wood product made from wood fibers, combined with wax and resin binders under pressure and high temperature.

BWR grade plywood

BWR grade plywood means boiling water resistant plywood. It is a waterproof plywood same with wbp plywood. It is widely used for making furniture.

Types of plywood

plywood--A group of plywood veneers are usually made by gluing adjacent layers of wood grain directions perpendicular to each other. Usually, the surface plate and the inner layer are symmetrically arranged on both sides of the center layer or the core.

long grained plywood--plywood with the wood grain parallel or nearly parallel to the long edge of the board.

cross grained plywood--plywood with the wood grain almost parallel or nearly parallel to the short sides of the board.

plywood for general use--plywood suitable for a wide range of uses.

special plywood--can meet the special purpose of plywood.

eltetior plywood--has a weather-resistant, water- and high-humidity-resistant plastic platen.

interior plywood--does not have the adhesive properties of long-term water immersion or high temperature plywood.

type l plywood--weather resistant plywood, this type of plywood is durable, resistant to boiling or steam treatment, and can be used outdoors.

Type 2 plywood--water resistant plywood, this type of plywood can be immersed in cold water, or withstand short-term hot water immersion, but not resistant to boiling.

type 3 plywood--moisture resistant plywood, this type of plywood can withstand short-term cold water immersion, suitable for indoor use.

Type 4 plywood is not moisture-resistant plywood. This type of plywood is used in indoor conditions and has a certain bonding strength.

structural plywood--plywood with defined mechanical property requirements.

star plywood--veneer texture plywood made of star-shaped groups of blanks.

core plywood--plywood with a core.

blockboard--The blockboard core consists of wooden strips, which can be glued or not.

callular board--The callular board core is composed of a honeycomb structure, and there should usually be at least two layers of veneers with the wood grains arranged perpendicular to each other on both sides of the core.

composite plywood--The composite plywood core (or some layers) is composed of materials other than solid wood or veneer, and there should usually be at least two layers of veneers with wood grains arranged perpendicular to each other on both sides of the core.

decorative plywood--two top veneers or one of them is decorative veneer.

moulded plywood is a non-planar plywood that is press formed in a mould.

Scarfed plywood glues two or more pieces of plywood with a bevel to increase its web size.

finger jointed plywood consists of two or more pieces of plywood, which are glued together by means of staggered bonding of the edges of the board to increase the size of the plywood.

length of panel--The dimension along the direction of the wood grain of the panel.

width of panel is perpendicular to the extremely long dimension.

thickness of panel is suitable for the size of the panel.
