How to identify teak wood furniture

Teak furniture, in theory, belongs to the same precious hardwood furniture as mahogany furniture. The surface of high-grade teak furniture is rich in oil and has a strong sense of smoothness; the surface reveals the color of the planed surface, which is oxidized to golden yellow luster through photosynthesis; the ink lines are delicate and rich.


Teak, also known as oil wood, purple teak, annatto, this type wood is known as the king of all woods, and is a famous precious wood species in the world. There are very few teak furniture made of all teak on the market ; most of them are only teak frame furniture or teak veneer, other parts are solid wood but not teak, and some other parts are composed of MDF.

Teak Furniture Disadvantages

There are not many full teak furniture on the market. Most of them are only teak frame furniture or teak veneer. Other parts are solid wood but not teak, which is called teak solid wood furniture; some other parts are not solid wood but MDF. In the face of huge profits, some unscrupulous manufacturers have made crooked ideas, using miscellaneous woods that look like teak such as black-hearted mangosteen or small shoe bean, or simply use fake teak to make teak furniture.


How to identify teak wood furniture?

Grain:
An easily attributable feature of teak wood is the pattern of its grain. Teak wood usually displays straight grain pattern.

Weight:
Compared to the solid teak wood, chipboards and medium density fibreboards covered with teak wood are lighter in weight.

Colour:

The sapwood of teak displays yellowish-white tint and the heartwood reflects golden-brown or darker shades of brown.
